"Spanish Creek rests at eye level, on top of a dresser, reminding me of quiet, cool, refreshing places I have been to in the mountains. Always, there is an air of mystery across the creek and into the forest beyond. Sometimes I cross into the forest and let it envelope me without discovering its secrets or what lies beyond. After a long walk, the cool water washes against my feet giving me a moment of pause from the activities of the day. Small fish dart about, under the far bank. There are a few nameless birds skirting from twig to twig. Other animals may be nearby, but I don’t see them. They don’t want to be found. There are places I’d return to and others I can always find in memories." Ben McComber, collector
