Karen LeGault,
BA SFSU, residing in Oakland, CA, has been drawing and painting since 1967 when she
had her first art classes with her most excellent high school art teachers, Ralph Goings and John Kaneko. Completing a first
major body of award winning oil and watercolor paintngs by age 20, she went on to many years of personal exploration and experimentation
in the arts with interests as varied as fabric design, photography, video and graphics. She began teaching drawing and painting
classes in North and East Bay community centers in 1993, and taught at the Berkeley Botanical Garden from 1993 to 2002.
Having studied, practiced and taught Tai Chi Chuan and other spiritual disciplines
from 1981 on, she has a special interest in combining
Eastern and Western concepts and techniques. Her work is in countless private collections. Permanent public collections where her work can be seen include Summit
Hospital, The County Records Building at1601Madison in Oakland and the new Critical Care Health Facility at Highland Hospital.
